Thara Park was from the shallow of Krabi River. The boats and ships that used to dock here were unable to as usual. So the harbor department came in and dredged the area and removed the sand to the mangrove forest.

Thara Park originally was the riverbank with the size of 102 Rai along to Kongka road. This place was a mangrove forest and when there was a rising tide, fisherman usually would dock their boats here, so this place was considered futile. From this, Krabi municipality decided that there should be a renovation and development of this place and invited all people to join and plant trees.

Later on Krabi municipality allocated 51 million THB to the province development project in the area of Khao Kha Nab Nam but after the transferring of mangrove forest from Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, there would be a delay in asking for permission. So the project was moved to Thara Park instead along with building, improving and developing the park. Nowadays Thara Park is full of beautiful nature, playground, pool, tennis court, and many facilities.
